Gianni Latrofa

Gianni started playing music at the tender age of 4, a child prodigy, being able to hear music and play back what he heard. He showed immediate talent and after the first studies on piano and organ he took part at several music contests for children in Switzerland, winning them all.

He moved to Italy at 9 and started his studies at the Conservatory as classical organist and pianist. At 17 he was intrigued by pop and rock music and started composing his own songs and pieces in several music styles. In the meantime he joined bands of major pop Italian artists and after few years he started arranging and composing for those pop artists.

In 1996 his first experiences in the music industry was as dance music producer (Rising Sun – Inertia – Drohm/BMG; The Promise – Pro Six – Dig It). He moved to London after that and there started composing chilling music in a pop-classical style. His creations featured several short films, as well. Then he returned back to Italy where he worked in TV (Telenorba) as music consultant for variety shows as pianist and composer.

This experience gave him the possibility to reach a great audience, composing for Gran Lady (daily TV show) and The Cripton and Jasmine Magic Show (publishing a CD for those soundtracks). And also the opportunity to to perform live his own music.

From 1996 to 2002 he worked as music director, composer and arranger for all Idotea's music productions, featuring his music in movies and short films. In 2007 he released his own instrumental album, Cobalto, 14 tracks of emotional landscapes, produced, arranged and composed by Gianni and distributed by CdBaby. This album has been greatly received and sought after, thanks to internet and mainly to MySpace.
And last year again with ‘Viola’, the follow-up to his debut album, that is giving to Gianni a great following worlwide.

Back from the US after a long staying, Gianni is now completing the recordings of his new album composed in Venice (Italy) and Los Angeles and is ready for a new live experience with the music and the rocking style he loved when he was just a teenager...
